COPS Season Premiere - September 6th

Hello to all of our Loyal Viewers!

It's been a long time since I have had a chance to post anything and give everyone an update as to the goings on here at COPS Headquarters, but with the Season Premiere just a few weeks away, I thought everyone might like to know what we've been up to.

Well first and foremost, it's been a heck of a year! 2008 saw the company make a big switch to recording all of our shows (COPS as well as the MyNetworkTV series JAIL) in full High Definition. Most of you know that FOX has been airing the show in High Definition for a few years, but what you may not know is that up until recently we've been shooting the series in Standard Definition. It's hard to tell because we have the best crews in the business and work with the best on-line editor to ensure we bring you the best possible viewing experience. Even though we were using state-of-the-art gear, we made a big push in the off season and upgraded all of our gear to HD to bring you the best quality broadcast that we can. It's our way of saying, "you ain't seen nothing yet". I can tell you from my perspective the new HD look of the series was worth the effort and I think everyone with a HD set up at home is going to really see a tremendous difference. The season premiere, a special edition of the show where we go back to work with Sheriff Al Lamberti and the Broward Sheriff's Office, will be the first episode of the series to be recorded and broadcast in High Definition.

Speaking of Sheriff Lamberti, this season has been particularly exciting for us in that we are going to be revisiting law enforcement agencies from the early years of the program. Of course, as anyone who is a fan knows, the series got its start in Broward County with Sheriff Nick Navarro, who also lends his voice to the commentary track of the pilot episode that can be found on the recently released COPS 20th Anniversary Edition DVD. We kicked the season off right by getting back to our roots and visiting Broward County, where Sheriff Al Lamberti and the men and women of the Broward Sheriff's Office welcomed us back to start what we hope is the beginning of our second 20 years on the air.We are also visiting several more agencies from around the country that haven't been featured since as early as Season 2 in 1990. One of those agencies that we can announce is the San Diego County Sheriff's Department, where Sheriff Kolender's deputies reminded us what great police work is all about.

In the coming weeks, FOX will be airing more new episodes featuring familiar places and some that we have been happy to get reacquainted with. Check out cops.com for the latest updates and happenings.

We also have some exciting video announcements that we will be posting in the next few weeks to this blog, so stay tuned.

I hope everyone is as excited as we are to get the new season started. We've been working hard to keep the series fresh and exciting and after you watch the BACK TO BROWARD SPECIAL EDITION on FOX, SEPTEMBER 6th, I think you will agree that COPS is a compelling and relevant as it was when we first aired in 1989.

Stay Safe,
